About: Designing Your Way to Equitable Courses was designed as an in person presentation as part of a conference. The main goals for the RISE course and workshop were:
introducing the elements and principles of design and WCAG accessibility standards in order to create equitably curated course design.
Best practices for creating course materials that are accessible and engaging for student are addressed, including: technical image considerations, relevancy, and alternative text; and techniques to create slideshows/ documents that are well organized.
Participants will also identify the elements and principles of graphical design and apply it to a design.
Throughout the course of the workshop, there will be interactive activities; this includes polls, image quests, among others.
After the workshop, this was hosted on our college website in order to serve as a reference for faculty and staff designing graphics.

Elements and principles of design are covered within the presentation. Each element or principle has a definition and a real world example.
Accessibility is a main component of the presentation. You will notice that each topic has a corresponding WCAG standard listed and a hyperlink for more information.

Tabs were utilized for many technical components throughout the presentation, such as this screenshot of types of image licensing. Tabs were divided into copyright, public domain, creative commons, and open-source.

This RISE package was originally designed for an in-person session at a conference. Participants could either scan the QR code or enter the tinyurl to follow along with the presentation.
