Designing Equitable Courses Workshop + RISE Course

Created For: Faculty Training and Workshops and Conference Presentation

Designed In: Articulate RISE 360

About: Designing Your Way to Equitable Courses was designed as an in person presentation as part of a conference. The main goals for the RISE course and workshop were:

  • introducing the elements and principles of design and WCAG accessibility standards in order to create equitably curated course design.

  • Best practices for creating course materials that are accessible and engaging for student are addressed, including: technical image considerations, relevancy, and alternative text; and techniques to create slideshows/ documents that are well organized.

  • Participants will also identify the elements and principles of graphical design and apply it to a design.

  • Throughout the course of the workshop, there will be interactive activities; this includes polls, image quests, among others.

After the workshop, this was hosted on our college website in order to serve as a reference for faculty and staff designing graphics.
